Getting a Unique Device Identifier (UDI) for your medical device is complicated. One of many problems is that you have to select a provider which "sells" you the UDI (it's about as shady as it sounds).
The first provider we'll talk about is GS1. We'll walk you through the steps you have to perform on the GS1 website for purchasing your UDI (spoiler: it's complicated, shady and terrible).
