No Cookie (Consent Dialogue) For You

Similar to what GitHub pulled off recently, I decided to remove all tracking cookies from OpenRegulatory.

Cookie consent dialogues suck. You display a popup to 100% of your users while delivering 0% additional value. But most websites still do it, because their owners like to wake up every morning and look at shiny Google Analytics charts - look! 20% more visitors yesterday!

However, hardly anyone has ever asked themselves: Which insights are we gaining from our tracking? Has any of those Google Analytics charts ever led to an impactful change to our website?

For me, that answer is no. But then again, I’m not a Google Analytics expert. And I also don’t plan to become one anytime soon.

So: No cookie (consent dialogue) for you.

Through OpenRegulatory, I’ve helped 100+ companies with their medical device compliance. While it’s also my job that we stay profitable, I try to dedicate a lot of my time towards writing free content like our articles and templates. Maybe that will make consulting unnecessary some day? :)
